Travelers will probably stay in the Mercure Stare Miasto. The price per night as of January 11, 2016 is $73, which is extremely reasonable for Gdansk, and which would include a breakfast buffet. The room rate, of course, goes down by half if two travelers share a room.
The Stare Miasto is located 10 minutes' walk from the historic center of Gdansk and are just five minutes' walk from the train station. A modern three-level shopping mall, Galeria Madison is two blocks away, and features numerous shops and restaurants, including a complete-service grocery store in the basement.
Most Gdansk hotels offer a breakfast buffet with a wide range of options for a very low price. For those with lighter appetites, Gdansk is full of little coffee shops and bakeries. Since the group will often be out in the countryside during lunch time, arrangements will have to be made with local restaurants or shops. But these are seldom very expensive either. Again, the possibilities for supper are almost endless; travelers also have the option of purchasing food in the stores and eating on their own.
